This Privacy Policy describes how Confide by Von Ventures LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal information of individuals (“Users,” “you,” or “your”) who use our Confide applications (collectively, “the Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, you should discontinue use immediately.
Confide is designed to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible while still providing meaningful features (e.g., journaling, mood analysis). Where feasible, we let you store data locally on your device and limit the amount of personal data sent to our servers.
We encrypt data in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS). User data stored on our servers (e.g., AWS S3, MongoDB Atlas) is encrypted at rest. While we may have the technical ability to decrypt data for certain features (e.g., AI analysis, optional cloud backups), we do not share decrypted content with any third party unless strictly necessary under the limited circumstances described below.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share certain aggregate or device-level data for analytics or advertising, but individual journal entries and related content remain confidential and private to your account.
We use your information to provide and maintain our Services, including optional cloud backups, AI-driven suggestions, and journaling features.
Where you have opted in, we process and analyze certain user data to deliver mood analysis, recommended prompts, or other personalized suggestions. If you do not enable these features, your data is not analyzed on our servers.
We may share non-personal, aggregated, or device-level identifiers with advertising platforms (e.g., Facebook, TikTok, Google Ads) to measure performance or deliver relevant ads. We do not share or sell individual journal entries.
We may use anonymized or aggregated data for internal analytics or to improve features. This data does not identify you personally.
We do not voluntarily provide your personal information to any government or third party. We only comply with legal obligations or enforceable requests (e.g., subpoenas, court orders) if we are required to do so under applicable law and, even then, only to the extent we actually possess accessible, unencrypted data.
We aim to keep your data private to your account. We do not sell or rent your personal information. However, we may share data under strictly limited scenarios:
We rely on trusted third-party services (e.g., AWS, MongoDB Atlas, PostHog) to host, store, or analyze data on our behalf. These providers are contractually bound to use the data only as needed to perform services for us and must keep it confidential.
We may share only anonymized or device-level data (such as hashed IDs, approximate location, or usage metrics) for ad performance measurement. We do not share journal content with advertisers.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar transaction, your data may be transferred as part of the business assets. You will be notified if your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not provide your personal information in response to law enforcement or governmental requests unless compelled by valid legal process (e.g., a court order) and only after exhausting any legal avenues to challenge or narrow such requests, when we deem them overbroad.
If required by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, safety, or property, or that of our users or others, we will comply with the minimal necessary disclosure.
We retain user data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our Services. If you deactivate or delete your account, your data is promptly deleted unless retention is required by law.
You may delete your account at any time through in-app settings or by emailing team@confide.app. We will securely remove your personal information and journal entries from our active servers within a reasonable timeframe, subject to lawful obligations.
If you choose not to enable cloud backups or AI features, your journal data remains stored solely on your device, and we will not possess a server-side copy.
All data transmitted between the Confide app and our servers is secured with TLS. Data on AWS S3 and MongoDB Atlas is encrypted at rest.
In certain premium features (e.g., AI analysis or backups), your journal data is decrypted on our server only as necessary to provide the requested feature. We do not share decrypted content with third parties.
You are responsible for safeguarding the credentials used to access your account. We recommend using strong passwords and ensuring your device is secure.
While we use industry-standard security measures, no system is 100% foolproof. We cannot guarantee absolute security against data breaches or unauthorized access.
Confide is not intended for children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware of a child under 13 using Confide without proper consent, please contact us at team@confide.app, and we will promptly remove any associated data.
By using Confide, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions with potentially different data protection laws.
We aim to comply with applicable privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for EU Users and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents, if and to the extent they apply to us. You may have certain rights (e.g., to access or delete data) subject to limitations under these laws.
You may update certain account information directly in the App. For more extensive corrections, please contact team@confide.app.
You may opt out of marketing emails or certain push notifications in your account settings or by contacting us.
For premium users, you can disable cloud backups or AI features at any time, which will limit the data we store on our servers.
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make significant changes, we will post the updated policy at https://confide.app/privacy and update the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of Confide after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
